Record-Breaking Golden Giveaway 2026 Awards Over £25,000 to 20 Local Organisations
On Wednesday 1st July, we were delighted to welcome our finalists, supporters and guests to the Golden Giveaway Presentation Ceremony at the home of Middlesbrough FC, the Riverside Stadium, where we celebrated another incredible year of giving back to our local communities.
Following a fantastic public vote that attracted a record-breaking 9,881 votes, 20 deserving organisations received grants of at least £500, with one outstanding organisation taking home our top prize of £5,000.
🥇 RDA Unicorn Centre was crowned this year’s winner, receiving £5,000. The Centre provides therapeutic riding for disabled children, young people and adults. Their grant will be used to purchase a larger, appropriately trained RDA horse capable of safely carrying riders above their current weight limit of 83kg, while also helping to strengthen the Centre’s long-term financial sustainability.
🥈 Synthonia Scout Club received £2,500. Their funding will help repair their Scout Hut and install a new waterproof roofing system, ensuring the building remains a safe and welcoming space for local young people.
🥉 Thornaby Deaf Club was awarded £2,000. The funding will be used to create a beautiful outdoor space, enhancing the support, activities and social opportunities already provided for its members.
Boosbeck Village Hall, a volunteer-run community hub in East Cleveland that helps tackle loneliness through regular activities and events, received £1,750.

The Golden Giveaway simply wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our members and supporters.
A huge thank you goes to our Platinum Patrons, Patrons and Infant Hercules Charity Club members who generously gave up their time to attend the presentation and help present the cheques to our winning organisations. Your continued support enables us to make a real difference to charities and community groups across Teesside.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Alfie Joey, who once again did a fantastic job as our compère. His warmth, humour and enthusiasm helped make the afternoon a truly memorable celebration for everyone involved.
Finally, thank you to every organisation that took part in this year’s Golden Giveaway and to everyone who cast a vote. The record-breaking 9,881 votes demonstrate just how much our local communities value the incredible work being carried out by these organisations.
Congratulations to all of our winners. We look forward to following your projects over the coming months and seeing the positive impact your funding will have across our region.
