On Wednesday, we held a heartwarming ceremony for our annual Golden Giveaway at the Riverside Stadium where twenty local organisations were granted donations of at least £500, with one lucky organisation receiving an impressive £5,000 as a result of a public vote.
The event was especially emotional for Senses Wellbeing Centre CIC, a not-for-profit community interest company who work with people of all ages and abilities, when they topped the poll and won an incredible £5,000. Justine Cook from platinum patron Cleveland Cable Company presented the award to the lucky winners who were jumping for joy.
Priory Woods School were overjoyed when they were awarded its second-place prize of £2,500 by Steve Brooke of platinum patron Pneuma Group.
Third in the poll was Thornaby Methodist Church, which received £2,000 to fund the renovation of its garden and play area.
WAG & Company North East Friendship Dogs, the only visiting dog charity in the North East of England that befriends elderly people, polled in fourth place and were awarded £1,750.
Elated with £1,500 were Fibro-Connect TS, Saltburn & Marske ASC and Hartlepool Special Needs Support Group.
Amounts of £1,000 were awarded to West View Advice & Resource Centre – Cancer Support Group, The Davison Trust for Children and Let’s Pretend and Play CIC.
Ayresome Primary School, Friends of Redcar Cemetery, Tilery Primary School, West View Project and Preloved Toys for the Community were each awarded £750 during the ceremony.
Smaller but no less important amounts of £500 were awarded to Friends of Acklam Library, Clean Planet UK, Tees Valley Tigers, Kin Carers and Parkfield Lighthouse.
