Cod Beck Reservoir
Will you put your best foot forward for mental health? We’re inviting our supporters to join us on a unique night-time walk to raise funds for local mental health charities.
The walk was inspired by our charity trustees Bill Scott of Wilton Engineering and Alisdair Beveridge of the Build Directory five years ago.
Gary Potts, Vice Principle of Middlesbrough College spoke of his Walk into the Light experience, and commented: “I work in education, so I see the challenges that mental health issues have on young people and adults everyday, as well as the difference that effective support can have to help these individuals to cope and to achieve in life.
“Therefore, I thought the walk into the light was a great opportunity to experience something different, raise awareness of the challenges that people face and, really importantly, raise some money to provide that impactful support!
“The walk was fantastic, with lovely people, and so well organised. Starting in the dark, walking through the night and finishing as the sun rises was humbling and genuinely unforgettable. I would recommend it to anybody as a great life experience and also a fantastic way to help!”
At 11pm on Friday 2nd July 2027, we will start a 10-mile walk that will finish as the sun comes up. Our beautiful moonlight trek will take us from the beautiful Cod Beck reservoir, through pine forests, along ancient trails and onto part of the historic Cleveland Way route. The route is on established trails and is ably led by Mountain Leaders and a support team from Overlimits UK – Outdoor Adventures Coaching & Training.
Of course, a more significant challenge than the walk will be some fundraising to help us support mental health charities in the region.
There is a £35 entry fee, and we ask participants to raise £200 in sponsorship.
