Tees Businesses’ £20k Boost For Charities And Schools

Published on: 6th March 2017

MANY of the Tees region’s leading businesses have banded together under the umbrella of Teesside Philanthropic Foundation to provide a unique £20,000 cash jackpot to local charities and schools.
The £20,000 Golden Giveaway will give 15 Tees charities, schools and community groups a chance to share the cash, which is being made available by Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.
Among the Tees businesses backing the scheme as patrons of the Foundation are Henderson Insurance Brokers, logistics experts InBond, engineering firm Nortech, Steve Gibson’s Bulkhaul, Castlegate Shopping Centre, Ecco Finishing Supplies and the charity’s newest patrons, social media marketing specialists Viral Effect.
The Golden Giveaway finalists will each receive at least £500 after a panel of the foundation’s patrons shortlisted them from 60 entries – but they could win up to £5,000 if they receive more votes than their fellow finalists.
The community group receiving most votes will receive £5,000.
The second-placed charity will receive £2,500, there’s £2,000 for third place, fourth and fifth get £1,500, sixth to eighth will receive £1,000, there’s £750 for ninth to 12th, and the final three will receive £500 each.
InBond director Craig Rye, who was part of a five-strong panel of patrons who drew up the shortlist, said: “It’s so important that the public take a few seconds to vote for which of our Golden Giveaway finalists they would most like to receive the biggest share of the cash. Their vote could make all the difference.
“The Golden Giveaway is an exciting way for us to support some of Teesside’s amazing charities, schools and community groups that need our help.
“It also engages the Teesside public with the Philanthropic Foundation, whilst raising the profile of our charity and the various community groups that take part.”
